For everyone who has followed me through the Book of Theo universe, I’m excited to announce a new way to experience it—through an upcoming video game based on "The Lost Child of Willago"!
This dark fantasy adventure will bring the rich, immersive world of The Lost Child of Willago to life, allowing players to step into a mystic realm where animals and humans coexist, danger lurks in the shadows, and survival depends on wit and courage.
Meet the Team Behind the Magic
This project is being developed by GemUnity Studio, an independent game development studio dedicated to crafting immersive and story-driven experiences. Founded by Gem Ekanga, a passionate writer, artist, and gamer, GemUnity is dedicated to creating games that blend rich narratives with engaging gameplay, bringing unique worlds to life. Their current project, Geno Rig: Eon of Shadow, showcases their commitment to rich lore and intricate gameplay mechanics. Now, they’re channeling that same passion into "The Lost Child of Willago".
Leading the development is Abigail Miller, a seasoned game developer with experience at Activision Blizzard, one of the industry's most renowned companies. Abigail's expertise and creative vision are instrumental in translating the essence of "The Lost Child of Willago" into an engaging and immersive gaming experience. From the GemUnity team:
Bringing Willago to Life
Adapting this tale into an interactive experience presents a unique challenge: our protagonists—rabbits, wolves, and other creatures—must feel both realistic and expressive while navigating a world filled with peril. We’re exploring a variety of approaches, from the stylized charm of games like Jazz Jackrabbit to the immersive realism of Stray and Biomutant. Our goal? To craft a world where Theo’s universe feels tangible and alive, with animal characters that move, fight, and survive in ways that are both true to their nature and compelling to play.
What to Expect
- A dark, atmospheric world faithful to the original story
- Animal characters with unique abilities and realistic movement
- A mix of stealth, survival, and adventure gameplay
- A chance to experience the Willago story from a whole new perspective
Game development is a journey of discovery, and while we can’t reveal everything just yet, we’re excited to share updates along the way. Whether you’re a longtime fan of The Lost Child of Willago or a gamer looking for a fresh and immersive experience, we can’t wait to welcome you into this world.
Stay tuned for more behind-the-scenes insights as we bring The Lost Child of Willago from the page to the screen!
